As many people who own cats know, cats are extraordinarily clever creatures. If you happen to have cats that are voracious eaters, you know how persistent and ingenuitive they can be concerning getting you to feed them.

My wife and I are the owners of a couple of such cats. Not only do they wake us up each and every morning before 5:30am, but throughout the day when either is eager to eat, that cat will begin to create mischief in the family home unless they are both fed. They seem to coordinate this amongst the two. It can drive a person mad.

Since quite a lot of cats do well regulating their own eating, plenty of cat owners just leave dry food out all day long for their cats. Our cats, however, frequently overeat. We initially made it a point to leave supplemental food out for them to nibble on, but as they gained weight it became obvious that we would need to cease if we wanted them to remain in good health.

That is exactly why we began shopping for an automatic pet feeder. We were hoping that training the cats to respond to an automatic gizmo as opposed to annoying us would do the job and help to safeguard our sanity and snooze cycles.

There are lots of automatic pet feeders available to pick from. There are types between systems that are electric and mechanical and prices fluctuate from around USD$20 to over $100.

Our beginning purchase, an economical product called "Slim Cat", surely is not automated. It is a hollow clear lucite ball that you stock with dry food. It has holes that can be regulated to size and enable the pieces of kibble to fall out as the cat plays with the ball. It has done the trick well to supply our cats more activity and allow them to lose a few pounds. But they continue to wake us up.

Our upcoming purchase will undeniably need to be an automated solution. Perhaps we will also invest in a pet water fountain given that our intent is to keep our cats strong as well as keeping them from demanding to be given food.
